ABOUT THE SET
1956 Topps contains 340 cards measuring 2 5/8" x 3 3/4". This is the first Topps set to introduce team cards, checklists, and cards for the American and National League Presidents.
uniqueness
Cards #1-180 are printed in either a white or gray back variations. Several team cards have variations and the Hank Aaron card has an image of Willie Mays sliding.
KEY Rookies and hall of famers
The set contains 36 Hall of Famers including the rookie card of Luis Aparicio and Mickey Mantle’s first Topps card since 1953.

Card #31 Hank Aaron features a portrait of Aaron but the action shot is actually an image of Willie Mays sliding into home.
The Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Redlegs, Milwaukee Brewers, and Baltimore Orioles team cards all have three variations - no date with the team name center aligned, no date with the team name left aligned, and one dated 1955.
The 1956 Topps set was the first baseball card set to introduce a checklist. Topps produced two checklists, one for Series 1 and 3 and another for Series 2 and 4.
